We hold the patent for the Grouted Screw Mooring system, an eco-friendly solution to mooring vessels in environmentally sensitive areas.
Chain-drag on the seafloor is avoided as the mooring's rigging goes straight up towards the surface where it is attached to a subsurface buoy. This buoy acts in a reverse catenary role, minimising shock loading to the system and vessel.
The only visible evidence of the system on the seafloor is a small metal head used to secure the mooring line.
The Grouted Screw Mooring is designed to screw into almost any substrate type, except hard igneous rock.
