Our Alotau provincial Wharf project has mobilised with the PMG Emerald underway tandem towing the fully loaded PMG183W and PMG124 barges. We expect around 7 days towing to get them into Alotau. Most of the site team are flying into Alotau next week.
Onboard the barges is all the piling equipment and 3 gate piling frame, our new 280t crawler crane, as well as enough piles and precast components to get the site team started. The barge setup and materials loading and seafastening has been going on here at our marine facility for many weeks.
All the 50MPa precast elements have now been cast at our onsite precast yard in Townsville, and the pile splicing is ongoing. Once these remaining materials are required on site, they will be loaded onto the PMG182 and this barge will be towed to site.
There has been many months of background work going on for this project, and it’s great to see it come together with a successful departure.
