Hay Point Beacons Maintenance

PMG have recently returned from a Navigation Beacon maintenance program offshore Hay Point, for Department of Transport and Main Roads.

The works involved programmed maintenance on 4 off 2m diameter steel monopile beacons, which have been in operation in the harsh marine environment for over 15 years.

Works on offshore structures like these are highly weather dependent, and face significant access issues which PMG have developed engineered access systems to overcome.

Main works involved in the program included:

  • Freshwater high pressure washdown of topside structures
  • Steel surface preparation and painting
  • Daymark replacement

PMG mobilised the 34m support vessel PMG Pride, towing PMG151, a 45m x 15m spudded barge with 4 point mooring system, which was also equipped with a 100t crawler crane.

All crew were accommodated onboard the PMG Pride for the duration of the site works.
