Vanuatu Piling Complete

PMG have recently returned from Vanuatu after successfully completing a piling project associated with the Pacific Patrol Boat Guardian Class wharf upgrades. We were on site working for McConnell Dowell, and this project is the 3rd similar project we have worked on with them recently – the other 2 being in Fiji and the Solomons. The project has been complex in the planning due to Covid complications, but ultimately the site works went very well. All crew travelled to and from Vanuatu onboard the tug, which allowed for Covid quarantine time to be performed onboard the tug.

Some big gear was used on the project including PMG183W (54m x 21m flat top barge) fitted with a 280t crawler crane, and towed by PMG Pride. The 900mm diameter piles were driven through PMG’s 2 gate piling frame, using a Junttan 12/14/16 hammer.
