Pacific Marine Group are currently on site offshore Lockhart River (Northern Great Barrier Reef region) repairing a number of Lads Passage mono and multi pile Navigational Aids for Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).
Lads Passage is extremely important to safe navigation through the northern section of the Great Barrier Reef. A number of the Lads Passage Navigational Aids were damaged by Cyclone Trevor in March 2019.
Works being completed under the current contract include stabilisation of tower foundations by grout injection, Denso Seashield applications, scour protection by rock bags, and electrical and lighting installation and commissioning.
The sites are extremely remote and logistically challenging. The equipment we have on site includes the PMG Pride as the main support tug - supporting a crew of up to 20, PMG151 spudded crane barge fitted with a 4 point mooring system, running a 100 t crawler crane. Onboard we have marine crew, construction crew, dive crew, grouting crew, fabrication crew, electrical sub-contractor and project management.
The works are due for completion in the next 2 weeks, and the crew are looking forward to getting home after delivering another very successful project in a remote area of the GBR.
