PMG has an interesting project underway at present. Jetty construction with no salt water in sight. The structure is being built for BMA at Bedford Weir - 200Km inland from Rockhampton in Central Queensland, and will be used as a water pumping station jetty.
This job is a bit different for us given there’s no tugs or crane barges involved, but we still get to use some floating plant, being 2 x road transportable 14m x 3.5m pontoons, to run a piling frame on. Cranage is a land based 250T crawler, and we are driving the 610mm diameter steel tubes with our ICE 44B vibrohammer and Junttan 7/9 impact hammer. There is quite a bit of structural steelwork involved in the job, as well as a lot of precast concrete headstocks and deck beams. Works on site are going well, with all piling complete now, and headstocks about to be fitted. Structural steelwork fabrication and trial assembly is ongoing in our Townsville workshop.
