Works have been completed on the installation of 5 new 610mm diameter shipping channel piled beacons in Weipa for Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads.
4 old beacons had to be extracted as part of the works.
The site works involved PMG Pride, our 31m offshore support vessel, towing PMG182, a 54m x 18m flat top barge, fitted with a 180T Kobelco crawler crane and all required piling frames and hammers, and backup for all this equipment as is required when working in remote areas.
All beacon components were fabricated in-house at our Townsville marine base, loaded onto the barge, towed to site and installed with no issues.
